Betis’ Squad for the Valencia Match

After the training session on Monday and before heading to Valencia on a charter flight, Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini revealed the squad for the postponed first-round Liga match that the verdiblancos will play tomorrow at Mestalla against Carlos Corberán’s side.

The main addition is Troy Parrott, an Irish centre-forward and Betis’ fourth and most recent summer signing. Parrott finished pre-season with AZ Alkmaar and played a couple of official matches for the Dutch club before arriving in the Spanish capital. After four training sessions with his new teammates, from Friday to Monday, he is ready to debut.

Additions and Absences

Abde and José Antonio Morante are left out of the trip, even though both are training with the group. The Moroccan has had several work sessions but remains doubtful for the upcoming Levante visit on Saturday, while the evolution of the injuries still affecting the youth player will determine his return to the squad. Giovani Lo Celso, Aitor Ruibal, Diego Conde, who has already trained individually on the pitch this morning, and Gonzalo Petit are also absent due to various physical problems.

Pablo García, despite open negotiations between Betis and Hull City for his transfer to the Premier League club, remains selected by Pellegrini. The Sevillian striker left the Béticos’ fans last Friday after the match against Matarazzo’s side, but there is no agreement yet for a move to England due to financial differences over the percentage of the player the verdiblancos would be willing to part with. Iker Losada, a transfer-eligible player for Betis, and the new arrival Álvaro de Pablo as a third goalkeeper also travel.
