Sevilla FC have announced their matchday squad to face Valencia Club de Fútbol this Friday at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, a fixture from the fifth round of La Liga EA Sports. The major absence is that of French defender Arouna Sangante, who serves a suspension following a straight red card in the clash with Espanyol. Additionally, the player is nursing a mild right ankle sprain that rules him out entirely.
The absence of the French centre-back forces a reshuffle in Sevilla's defence. All signs point to Castrín stepping into the starting eleven to fill the void. Manager also has Marcao Teixeira in the 24-man squad, though the Brazilian is expected to start from the bench, with young midfielder Iker Muñoz potentially preferred to add energy. The full squad list is: Vlachodimos, Fran González, Rafa Romero, Juan Iglesias, Carmona, Kike Salas, Iker Muñoz, Marcao, Castrín, Suazo, Julio Díaz, Agoumé, Guridi, Fofana, Manu Bueno, Kochorashvili, Félix Correia, Miguel Sierra, Ejuke, Alfon, Peque, Isaac, Robbie Ure and Stassin.
Beyond Sangante, full-back Rubén Vargas remains sidelined with knee issues. In attack, Félix Correia is yet to make his debut, unlike teammates Fofana and Stassin who featured against Espanyol. This injury situation comes at a tough time for Valencia, who visit Sevilla sitting 20th in La Liga with just one point from four games. Their recent form, with three losses and a draw, adds pressure to this encounter. Fans can track their team's progress in the league standings.
The Che team faces this trip with the urgent need to secure their first three points of the campaign. With a record of one goal scored and nine conceded, defensive solidity will be an absolute priority at the Sánchez-Pizjuán. Rubén Baraja's side, however, has its own injury concerns, with key players like S. Canós, J. Copete, and M. Diakhaby currently sidelined. After the Sevilla match, the schedule offers no respite, as Valencia face second-placed Alaves on September 15th. Planning for that fixture can be followed on our upcoming fixtures page.
The match between Sevilla and Valencia Club de Fútbol is scheduled for Friday at 21:00, a key clash for both sides in their search for momentum.
