Boca Juniors Reinforces with Enner Valencia

The Ecuadorian Striker Will Arrive This Friday and Could Debut Saturday

Boca Juniors has confirmed the arrival of 36-year-old Ecuadorian striker Enner Valencia as their fourth signing. Valencia will arrive in Argentina this Friday afternoon for a medical check-up. If everything goes well, he will officially become a player of Boca.

Valencia joins after an irregular stint at Pachuca, Mexico, where he lost continuity due to injuries and technical decisions. However, in the last season, he scored eight goals in 22 matches, many from the bench.

Coach's Priority: A Goal Scorer

Coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena has prioritized the signing of a goal scorer over a defensive addition. Valencia joins Milton Giménez as the sole center-forward on the team, given his injuries and limited game time.

Contract Details and Future Prospects

Valencia will sign a one-year contract with the option to extend for another year. The striker has rejected offers from Emelec and Talleres de Córdoba, opting instead for Boca to gain playing time amid the triple competition: Clausura Tournament, Copa Argentina, and Copa Sudamericana.

About Enner Valencia

Valencia's last match was on June 30 against Mexico in the 16th round of the World Cup, where he failed to score. Although he finished the qualifiers in good form, scoring a goal for Ecuador in their 1-0 victory over Argentina, during the World Cup, he missed several clear chances and faced criticism from fans.

Debut Details

Boca cannot include Valencia on the list for the upcoming match against Recoleta of Paraguay. The CONMEBOL allows up to five substitutions for the eighth-finals, but the deadline is this Friday 7th August at 6 PM. To do so, Boca must complete the medical examination, sign the contract, and submit all necessary documentation before that time.

Other Reinforcements in the Pipeline

In addition to Valencia, Boca seeks to finalize the arrival of another striker: Ezequiel Ávila. The club is also focusing on acquiring a right-sided central defender to complete their squad.
